Firstly, they are a leader in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), providing full transparency on the environmental impact of each window from raw material to disposal. They use sustainably sourced timber (often FSC®-certified) and aluminum with a significant recycled content. Furthermore, their production facilities are highly optimized to minimize waste, and any wood offcuts are used for biomass energy. Choosing Rationel is not just about an efficient home, but also about making a choice with a lower carbon footprint.
The Designo range is the pinnacle of Rationel's philosophy where minimalist Nordic design meets superior engineering. It features incredibly slim sightlines and frame profiles, maximizing the glass area and letting in more light. Despite its sleek appearance, it doesn't compromise. The frames are structurally robust and achieve exceptional thermal performance (Uw-values as low as 0.60 W/(m²K)) through advanced insulation and triple glazing. It’s the ideal choice for modern architectural projects and renovations where aesthetics are as important as efficiency.
Rationel excels in creating "frameless" visual experiences. Their Designo and Pasio ranges feature minimal frame profiles and reinforced corners that allow for expansive, fixed glazing panels and very large door systems. For corner windows, they offer specialized solutions with near-invisible corner joints. Combined with their option for ultra-clear, low-iron glass (which reduces the greenish tint of standard glass), they create bright interiors with truly panoramic, undistorted views, blurring the line between inside and outside.
Absolutely. Born in Denmark, Rationel windows are engineered for challenging North Sea climates. Their aluminum-clad wood windows are specifically designed for this. The factory-applied aluminum cladding acts as a tough, weatherproof shell that won't rust, peel, or rot. It requires zero maintenance and protects the beautiful, insulating wood interior from driving rain, salt spray, and intense UV exposure. This makes them an outstandingly durable and long-lasting choice for exposed locations.
Rationel's long-term reliability comes from precision engineering and superior sealing. They use multiple, continuous seals within the window structure—often including a central "warm edge" spacer bar within the glass unit that prevents condensation at the glass edge. Their factory-assembled joints and finishes ensure no weak points. Combined with excellent thermal breaks in the frame, this creates a consistent temperature on the inner surface, virtually eliminating cold spots where condensation forms and ensuring the window remains airtight for decades.
