Sheffield’s Contemporary New Build Featuring VELFAC Windows and Internorm Entrance Door

This two-storey new build in Sheffield thoughtfully mirrors the architecture of local barns, featuring cedar cladding and a slate roof adorned with skylights that flood the interior with natural light. VELFAC V200 Energy triple-glazed composite windows are installed throughout the home, designed to maximise daylight in the open-plan spaces while delivering excellent insulation, a sleek aesthetic, and uninterrupted views of the scenic Yorkshire countryside.

From the outset, Guy carefully considered the need for solar coating on the windows but ultimately opted against it, confident in the impressive performance of the VELFAC system, which boasts U-values as low as 0.76 W/m²K. As the project progressed, Guy visited our showroom in Manvers, Wath upon Dearne, and once decisions were finalised, quotes were revised to reflect the changes. However, the project faced unexpected delays when the builder withdrew at the last minute. To ensure a smooth installation, two technical surveys were conducted, revealing slight variances in tolerance due to the natural stone on the ground floor. The builders agreed to dress the stone, ensuring everything was aligned for the installation.

Months after first contacting us, the family has now moved into their new home, enjoying its airy and expansive design. The master bedroom features a large picture window offering sweeping views of the Yorkshire countryside, filling the room with light and creating a peaceful and idyllic space.

In the living room, a low-threshold casement door opens onto the patio, seamlessly connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces for a smooth flow between the home and garden. Completing the exterior is a sleek anthracite grey Internorm entrance door, framed by cedar cladding, adding a contemporary and welcoming touch to the overall design.
